9,000 Protest in Portland, Ore.

About 9,000 Protested the War today in Portland,Oregon.
According to police estimates, about 9,000 people participated in the End the War/Begin the Peace rally and march today in downtown Portland's Waterfront Park.  I just returned from the event.  It was truly inspirational.

And unlike many previous Portland marches, where violence and pepper spray were too often the norm, the police have reported no arrests.  If that's the case, Kudos to Mayor Potter and Chief Foxworth for a job well done.  I also noticed staff from the city attorney's office walking with police, presumably to ensure that people's rights were respected.  Very costly lawsuits have resulted from violence at previous demonstrations.  Again, assuming that there were no arrests and no violence, I congratulate the crowd, Peace & Justice Works and the city government on a job well done.
