Where Have All The Fathers Gone?
Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 04:35:00 PM PDT
As the war in Iraq drags on for another year, I take a look back at my own happy childhood and lament the many moments stolen from other girls as they struggle through life without a dad. I am also writing this in response to the many critics of Sen. Obama who felt his speech on black fatherhood was untimely, too critical, and worse, created to pander to mainstream family values. People who see the speech as pander in the black community are often the ones who need to take its words to heart and understand that they keep hearing it over and over again from Bill Cosby and others because it is the truth, and we need to hear it.
I think they are intermingled, the missing father in the black community and the missing father from the ravages of war. Both are gone, but the former is gone for often their own selfish pursuits. The latter is an unfortunate side effect of war that I think will be felt terribly for another generation of young people.
Dear Kossacks, Vote for John McCain
Thu May 22, 2008 at 07:53:07 PM PDT
We didn't realize by posting our need for John McCain supporters to post information to other internet users, the word would get out so quickly on the internet. We mean no harm, we just want to spread the truth about John and what he will do to America if he is elected our President!
Well, I'm here to discuss why Kossacks should think about voting for John McCain for President. Here's the letter I have sent out to my own mother, just the other day about the subject. I hope you find it as inspiring as I do.
It is SAA month, but no one knows it...
Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 06:46:04 PM PDT
There is a theme to each month out of the year. February is Black history month, March is women's history month, and then there is April. Most of the theme months have great posters and cute "did you know" factoids on the news and in the paper each day. We learn about great men and women of all colors and backgrounds, but what do we learn in April? I am sure April is dedicated to a lot of worthy causes. April is Alcohol Awareness month, poetry month, and home of our annual celebration of Earth Day... Yet, there is something else that calls the month of April home.
The month of April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month or "SAAM"
I have used RAINN's (Rape, Abuse & Incest Network) website because I have found it to be a very easy and reliable reference. RAINN WEBSITE

Don't Knock Obama, John McCain Had Said It First!

The non-story of Sen. Obama's explanation of how some Americans may feel about job loss and economic security. Thank goodness for some good journalism, this is fresh from the Huffington Post.
I Knew They Would Take The Bait....

This is why I don't watch the news. Stupid Traditional Media, trying to find a story where there is none. Talk about sensationalistic. Jimmy Carter goes on a diplomacy trip to meet Hamas and the first thing they ask is... ooooh is it gonna hurt Obama? You can almost imagine their faces filled with joy that they might have found something to stick to Mr. Teflon. Stupid, I know, but the news is no news, and the need for a independent news stations and cable networks is growing.
