Obama gets another: Pledged Delegate switches from Clinton to Obama

Tue May 13, 2008 at 02:54:21 PM PDT

Just saw this at demconwatch.com and the Rec'd diary is no longer updating totals.

Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson, a Democratic convention delegate pledged to support Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, said yesterday that he thinks Sen. Barack Obama has "in a real sense" won the Democratic nomination and that he now plans to support Obama at the August convention. This is Johnson's second change of heart in the race. He had allowed his name to be listed as a supporter by the Obama campaign in December.

Unlike superdelegates, who are free to endorse either candidate, Johnson is one of 28 pledged delegates who have agreed to represent the 36 percent of Maryland Democrats who voted for Clinton on Feb. 12.

Some Clinton delegates were chosen by voters at the ballot. Others, such as Johnson, were selected in consultation with the Clinton campaign by the Maryland Democratic State Central Committee, party spokesman David Paulson said.

Attention Media: Hillary is a liar. With Video evidence!!

Thu May 08, 2008 at 07:24:07 PM PDT

Ok you media folk.. listen up.

This race is over and you are being lied to.
In an open letter to Barack Obama Clinton said:

"I have consistently said that the votes cast in Florida and Michigan in January should be counted."

Or this from Bill Clinton:

"We are gonna have to resolve Michigan and Florida and when we do she can win the popular vote."
They are so focused on Florida and Michigan. They really really want the votes to count! And they have been so consistent on this point....

They are L Y I N G to you.  And Forgive me if I'm wrong... but you're not supposed to let that happen...right?

You want proof they're blowing cigar smoke up your ass?

Mark Penn says:" Obama Can't win the general election" then denies saying it.

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 01:49:14 PM PDT

Apparently, during a call with reporters, Mark Penn said: "Obama can't win the general election...if he can't win in PA, how can he win the general election?" Cue the laughter....

So.. later in the call, a reporter asks him about that statement and they brazenly say "Mark never said that..he never said that" Except he did... there is even an audio recording of it.

Linky

So.. I have a couple of questions here.

  1. How stupid does the Clinton campaign think we are?
  1. Is the media going to pick this story up at all?
  1. Is Mark Penn really this much of a fucking douchebag?

Obama and why

Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 06:44:17 AM PDT

America has been hurting. For a long time.
And Democrats especially.
It has been so long since we have been inspired by our President.
America was shamed by Clinton's affairs and tongue in cheek denial of them.
And they ran towards an apparent agent of change.
But that turned out to be far worse than anyone ever expected. He surrounded himself with sycophants and morally repugnant neo-conservatives.
And they have led us near the brink of utter disaster.
For nigh 7 years America has been hurting. Ashamed. Angry. Fighting itself.

What we need is a leader who can inspire. Who can unite. Who can offer us hope, and build a momentum towards regaining what was once a great nation.

Obama breaks through to RedState

Sat Feb 02, 2008 at 11:47:59 PM PDT

At least he got Erik Andersen impressed enough to post a glowing review o the Yes We Can video. I am sure it warmed over a few icicles on the hearts of a few of them. He even asks at the top "Is anyone going to make one of these for Mitt?" LOFL!
Check out the link in all its glories..and, as always, the comments are priceless.

I only wish I had the software and time to create a similar rock video for the Republican contenders, or perhaps one with excerpts from Bush's speeches.

Any takers out there?

The Audacity of Barack Obama

Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 10:12:45 PM PDT

"Maybe the critics are right. Maybe there's no escaping our great political divide, an endless clash of armies, and any attempts to alter the rules of engagement are futile. Or maybe trivialization of politics has reached a point of no return, so that most people see it as just one more diversion, a sport, with politicians our paunch-bellied gladiators and those who bother to pay attention, just fans on the sidelines. We paint our faces red or blue and cheer our side and boo their side and if it takes a late hit or a cheap shot to beat the other team, so be it, for winning is all that matters.

But I don't think so. They are out there, I think to myself, those ordinary citizens who have grown up in the midst of all the political and cultural battles, but who have found a way-in their own lives-to make peace with their neighbors, and themselves.

The Ghost of Bush's Legacy

Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 01:48:46 PM PDT

Once in a while I stumble across a piece in that old-school medium we call a newspaper, and it impresses me. This hasn't happened in a long, repeat LONG, time. So I feel compelled to share  the salient pieces of the article: The Ghost Following Bush.

Being a History buff, this is the type of "mythology" I want nailed to the Legacy of George W, to defeat the spin his supporters will trot out after his dismal terms come to an end.

On an Autumn night 300 years ago, Admiral Sir Clowdisley Shovell, hero of the British Navy, was approached on his quarterdeck by a sailor with a warning. According to the sailor's calculations, the fleet was headed straight for disaster. But Sir Clowdisley was a bold leader unburdened by doubt. He was dead certain he was headed in the right direction.

"Such subversive navigation by an inferior was forbidden in the Royal Navy," according to Dava Sobel in her brilliant book "Longitude," and so "Admiral Shovell had the man hanged for mutiny on the spot."

The 57-year-old Sir Clowdisley stayed the course, oblivious in his ignorance and upright in his optimism, until, one by one, his ships wrecked in the Scilly Isles with great loss of life, including his own.

Recipes of Thanks Giving

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 10:14:38 PM PDT

Ok.I have posted plenty of recipes but the have all been the Troll-house kind.

It's time for some real recipes.

I am posting my Cranberry Bourbon Relish recipe (not mine per se.. found it a long time ago and make it every year). And now I post it for all to enjoy.

I was hesitant to try this recipe at first, but believe me, it is incredible. The Bourbon and cranberry flavor is amazing.

Don't freak out while you're cooking it.. those cranberries will pop and turn mushy.. I promise.

So I invite all Kossacks to post ONE recipe.. their best Holiday/Thanksgiving one to share with the rest of us.. and maybe warm a trolls belly.

The Last Debate Diary for Tonight

Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 07:50:50 PM PDT

Seriously. What the hell was that?
The only people who WON that atrocity of a debate were Republicans.
The questions sounded as if they were written by Karl Rove, then edited by Joe Lieberman.

This was chance for the Democratic Party to shine, to thrust some buried issues back onto the front burner, to turn even more heat on the Republicans. Did we get anythin even close to that?

Debunking Myths 101: "Homosexuality is a Choice"

Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 03:11:17 PM PDT

I was flipping through some of Mitch Albom's old articles over at Freep.com and came across his article on Tim Hardaway's homophobic hate screed. In the comments section was a lively discussion, but one post really stood out. This is an amazing debunking of the "homesexuality is a choice" argument. It's concise and devastating.

This really needs to get out.

The author goes by the name of Wulf and to him/her I give all the credit.

Breaking: Republicans Dumping Work on Incoming Dems

Tue Nov 21, 2006 at 03:07:25 PM PDT

According to this http://news.yahoo.com/... [AP Article]the incompetent, corrupt and negligent Republican Congress is closing their doors and going home early, leaving a TON of unfinished work for the incoming Democrats in January.
This is a conscious effort to bog down the new Congress so they can stand there and point fingers. WE can't let them get away with this.
This is such utter bullshit, but of course I am not surprised.
We need to contact the media and swarm them with this. Keith Olberman anyone?
Here's the story:

WASHINGTON - Republicans vacating the Capitol are dumping a big spring cleaning job on Democrats moving in. GOP leaders have opted to leave behind almost a half-trillion-dollar clutter of unfinished spending bills,

There's also no guarantee that Republicans will pass a multibillion-dollar measure to prevent a cut in fees to doctors treating Medicare patients.

**the rest is below the fold.

Speaker Pelosi? Are you still listening?

Sat Nov 11, 2006 at 10:27:08 AM PDT

Hi Nancy.

I know you're extremely busy and all, what with our crsuhing defeat over the Republicans this past week. I just wanted to check in, make sure you're still here, getting the pulse of the blogosphere, listeing to what we have to say.

I know you'll post again here soon, I know you haven't abandoned us. I know you realize that this community is a microcosm of the whole country and that this is a valuable resource for you and the entire party.
Follow me below the fold, I have a few simple requests to make.

Thank You Howard Dean! This one's for you!

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 08:22:32 PM PDT

We took the House. Santorum is gone. We made them spend millions where they normally wouldn't have. The Rethugs are weak and bleeding, and we have two more years of criminal investigations to go.
We now have a voice and power to use that voice.
Howard envisioned the 50 state strategy and stuck to it despite the screams and wails of Old School Democrats.
He saw the power we have here at DailyKos and he let us use it to its fullest extent.
Howard is the future of this party and the future of this country.
Howard. I thank you.
Your country thanks you.
The first battle has been won. Let's get ready for the next one.
Who's with me in thanking Howard.
Recommend it so he'll read it!

i have 3 beers in the fridge, a few cheese quesadillas ready to heat up, some great music queued up.. and I'm getting the headset attached to my phone. Cause I am calling people tonight. I have my MoveOn screen loaded and ready to go, I'm practiced and polished and I am raring to go.
Why am I spending a perfectly good Friday evening on the phone, pestering total strangers?

Because the future of my country lies in the balance and it is the LEAST I can do.

The GOP Terror Ad: Version 2.0 (Now with the Truth!)

Sun Oct 22, 2006 at 06:39:36 PM PDT

After seeing the shameful ad the GOP will run on cable networks I took some time and made my own version. I used their ad and merely added the Truth to it.
I think it works pretty well.

Click Here to see it, and turn up your volume.

I am hoping this can get some buzz and the Dems will produce their own ad similar to mine, and broadcast it nationally.

Tinfoil under Saran Wrap: Rove's plan to steal the election?

Thu Oct 19, 2006 at 06:44:28 PM PDT

So.. call me crazy but I just had a scary thought. How hard would it be for Rove and his winged minions to sit back and watch the Dems avalanche the polls on November 7th, only to scream "Vote Fraud!" minutes after the results are announced.

"They've been on this Diebold electronic vote theft wagon from day one and it appears they found a way to actually do it!"

Then he pulls out evidence of vote manipulation in favor of Dems in a variety of races.

What happens after this I can't fathom, but it can't be good. Not with the new laws in place regarding "Civil Unrest"
