Ok, While we may still all be upset by FISA and even though I wish Obama had voted differently he's still one of the best damn candidates I have ever seen run for president. We've all seen the diaries on the rec-list about the WSJ article and the reasons to donate to Obama. We've heard the media reports that Obama's fund-raising has been "slowing down".
Folks, this is one chance to change a media narrative by people power. While we won't always agree with Barack on everything, we agree on enough things to work together to change this country. So let's have a money-bomb day today.
I'm in for $25 today, anyone care to match me?
Update [2008-7-11 12:34:12 by Dreggas]: - oh and for a little more incentive for why we need to get republicans out of the government and elect Obama, I spoke with my mother on her birthday yesterday, my father is on disability and mom works so they make ends meet, in fact they aren't doing too bad, but they now have to go to some place that gives out free bread every couple weeks just to save a little bit of money. Never before, at least in my lifetime, did they have to do that.
It's amazing just how quickly people are ready to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to Obama, not just with regards to his support of the SC's decision regarding the 2nd amendment (guess what a lot of people think the 2nd amendment guarantee's an individual right to keep and bear arms and that's not going to change) but especially with his support for "Faith Based Initiatives". The latter being just the latest.
Maybe it's the name "Faith Based Initiatives" or maybe it's because it has bush stink all over it but have people forgotten that Obama got his start working in some of these "Faith Based" programs? Those that defended TUCC, the church Obama attended, were quick to point out all of the good work that church did but now that Obama says he'd support federal funding for organizations like that, provided they played by the gov't rules so many people have their panties in a bunch.
It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I will work in the Senate to remove this provision so that we can seek full accountability for past offenses. But this compromise guarantees a thorough review by the Inspectors General of our national security agencies to determine what took place in the past, and ensures that there will be accountability going forward.
Now read it again.

I'll admit, I didn't have high hopes for Clinton's speech today. And after this long primary I felt like that old saying "once bitten twice shy". I also admit I would still keep her at arms distance from me. That being said I lost some more of my cynicism today.
That speech was one top notch. It was a speech like those that she gave in the beginning of this campaign, one of the reasons I was, at least moderately, willing to support Hillary if she became the nominee even though I was an Obama supporter.
Back in 06 when the primary wars began I remember writing a few diaries I happened to stumble upon again. They were about Pie as a snark device with which to either A) poke fun at kos' "If Obama Runs, he wins" FP diary (and the comments therein) as well as another diary at the time WRT the "Ridiculousness and Danger that is Obama", can't remember the exact post.
Or at least helped his own treatment. According to a Wired article one of the most effective treatments for the very type of cancer Kennedy has been diagnosed with is venom from the giant yellow israeli scorpion combined with iodine. The article states that the venom and iodine ignore healthy cells while binding to, and destroying the cancerous cells.
How did Kennedy Help with this? Follow below the fold
"I spent my entire life in the two reddest states in the entire U.S. so please excuse me if I fail to discern the nuances of the arguments sent my way this evening in what appears to be an orchestrated campaign to intimidate the remaining unpledged delegates by threatening to leave the party and vote for a third Bush term if I and others like me don't vote for Sen. Clinton," wrote the exasperated superdelegate. "I have been uncommitted throughout this campaign because I wanted to see how the candidates performed in a variety of settings. I am proud of them both. But I am horrified by this effort to threaten votes for McCain if super delegates don't vote for Sen. Clinton. I have received hundreds of emails from both sides - but I can say without exception that I have not received a single email from an Obama supporter that threatened a vote for McCain if I didn't support Sen. Obama. You really ought to be ashamed."
My father, who not months ago thought Obama wasn't too bad, has returned to insanity. He forwarded me some stupid chain mail with the picture of Obama not putting his hand on his heart during the National Anthem. Along with Red and Blue lettering repeating what John McCain (who my father used to despise) had to say about the pledge of allegiance.
I know this is not much of a diary but I needed to vent. I just can't get over it. Just when I thought my father was returning to sanity he has jumped right back into the damn kool-aid filled pool.
I know this is short, I know it's not much of a diary but this song was 4 years too early and personally, tonight I want to Mosh! I juat feel it. We have our nominee and it's time to take on McCain. So Here's to North Carolinas irrelevence, to all the people who volunteered and voted and put so much energy into what is OUR TIME!
As if yesterday's quote wasn't enough with regard to Hillary saying "Rich People, God bless Us", now we have Howard Wolfson on todays conference call saying that's not what she said, she said "God Blessed Us". This comes courtesy of Balloon-Juice
People say "oh no you're taking it out of context" but like Markos said yesterday, imagine if Obama had said this. Even in context the quote was bad. It was a reminder once again of how the rich see themselves as above the little people.
Personally, I didn't watch the Fox interview but I have read the transcript and have perused various accounts of it throughout the blogosphere and you know what? Big Fucking Deal.
By going on FOX News Obama did not legitimize a network that already has gained legitimacy with a large number of Americans. If they hadn't do you think we'd have the Shithead in chief we have now? It's reality folks, and it won't change if you just ignore it.
Further in doing the interview Obama disarmed Wallace and the childish "Obama Watch" clock. After all, hard to harp on someone for not coming on your show when they...you know...come on your show.
Oh boy, here we go again. As with most here I know the story of Michigan and Florida but it looks like Hillary still didn't get the message and is, in fact, trying to use Michigan as a stealth spoiler at the convention:
On Aug. 25, Clinton will march into the national convention in Denver stronger than most people realize, thanks to her aggressive ground game in Michigan.
Buoyed by party elder support, Clinton seems likely to capture more than 60 percent of the state's 128 pledged delegates, according to an analysis by the Michigan Information & Research Service. Including the 28 superdelegates, which lean heavily in the New York senator's favor, she could win upward of 70 percent of delegates, provided that they're seated with full voting power.
Tonight Barack, Hillary, and McPain will be on WWE Monday Night Raw, well on tape and on the show anyway. Per CNN here is what Hillary is supposed to say:
Hi, I’m Hillary Clinton. But tonight, in honor of the WWE, you can call me Hill-Rod.
This election is starting to feel a lot like "King of the Ring." The only difference? The last man standing may just be a woman.
The truth is, this election is so important. The next president will face a stack full of difficult challenges right from the opening bell... to fix the economy, bring our troops home from Iraq, and make college more affordable. You need a president who will go to the mat for you. And that’s exactly what I’ll do.
I’ve been knocked down, but I’ve always gotten back up. And I know how to take a hit for the American people. And if things get a little tough, I may even have to deliver the "people’s elbow."
Because this country is worth fighting for.
Now, I promise to stick to the political arena. So don't worry Randy Orton you're safe... for now.
When it comes to standing up for the American people though, I am ready to rumble.
Somewhere, something, is happening. It could be a crisis in the world or maybe just another prank caller like the guy who called that one time asking for "Hugh Jass". But that doesn't matter, what matters is who answers that phone.
If there is one thing that should be completely obvious by now, it should be the fact that the Clinton campaign is using a campaign strategy that, like her candidacy, is a blast from the past and just like bell-bottoms; extremely dated.
In Scooby-Doo the villain always said, at the end, "If it wasn't for those pesky kids and their dog", in Clinton's case it should be "If it weren't for that pesky internet and its YouTube".
Alright I've just about had it with the shit being flung at Obama with regard to something his pastor said. So with that in mind it's time to start showing the media what real offensive comments are like. I usually don't care if my diary gets a lot of play but I'd ask everyone to send this out to the media and to anyone they can think of showing them what is really offensive.
Much hay is being made over HRC's actions over the past weekend with regard to how she has acted over the weekend and her "concilliatory" tone in the debate. Some are even wondering which Hillary Clinton will show up tonight at the debate.
Given her "Xerox moment" in the last debate, for which she was rightly booed, and her concilliatory "Don't cry for me Argentina" moment where she said she was "honored" to be on stage with Barack Obama I would argue that the real Hillary Clinton is exactly what we've seen both over the weekend and at the debate.
I had started writing this as a comment but really it needs to be diaried. I will start out by saying I am an Obama supporter. I have believed he should be president since his 2004 speech. I will also say that I have and will continue to defend him against what seem to be a litany of disproven attacks by Hillary Clinton supporters on this site and elsewhere in the blogosphere.
I have heard those who support Hillary complaining about how they are treated on this site. I have heard them mock and deride DKos as the "Daily Obama". There's even a diary currently on the rec-list that uses this in its title.
just reading the comments there I've seen every single stupid attack ever launched on Obama and his supporters, such as the "fairy tale" comment and people wonder why we get pissed and don't just take it lying down?
