UPDATE: Obama's meeting with McNerney - call in support!

Wed May 07, 2008 at 04:16:03 PM PDT

[Update: Obama's meeting with McNerney today!]

I just got of the phone with a super happy gal at Jerry McNerney's office who confirmed that he's meeting with Clinton right now.  I called to let her know that I'd hit the streets for McNerney and would be proud if he would let Clinton know that his supporters feel that Obama is their candidate and that Clinton is no longer in a position to win the nomination without hurting the party's chances of winning in November.

The nice woman (again, she was really sweet) told me that they are glad to hear from folks and that they will be keeping track of who calls and what they have to say about this meeting.

Let McNerney -- who owes much to DailyKos -- know that it's time to get behind Obama!

Should I email my grandpa that Clinton says "vote Obama, not McCain"?

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 10:21:00 AM PDT

According to Ben Smith, Clinton puts up a flag for over-zealous supporters who've been suggesting they'd rather vote for McCain than Obama if Hillary doesn't get the nomination.

My grandpa is one of those Hillary supporters making such suggestions - but not as political posturing, but because he thinks the politicians who he's supported in the past (financial support for the Clintons) would not have been opportunistically misleading to him and his synagogue members about Obama's positions on Israel (i.e., "he'll talk with Iran, among other things, which will lead to limiting Israel's power to maintain and defend itself" ... and so on).

So should I email him with Clinton's statement (below the fold) or will it just piss him off and push him over the edge?  Are you going to email your Clinton supporting family members?

"States that matter" - an Electoral-vote.com Pictoral Perspective

Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 08:25:12 AM PDT

Mark Penn, head "it's not Hillary talking so it's okay to say things that are mildly offensive or relatively inaccurate if it helps my candidacy" surrogate has been saying for sometime that the states which Obama has been wining "do no matter" for a myriad of reasons most of which are relatively foolish.

So I thought to myself, I wonder which of those "meaningless" states Bush won in 2004?"

Electoral-vote.com will tell me, and I'll show my fellow Kossacks with fun pictures!

Peets Coffee Democrats Unite! Take Starbucks too - Do Dem's love coffee the most?

Thu May 10, 2007 at 12:38:27 AM PDT

I'd never heard of them until now, but apparently young, rich, moderately conservative (wah?), machiado guzzling suburbanites have been recently referred to as "Starbucks Republicans."

 title=

This gives a bad name to all the self-respecting suburban caffiene addicts - these people are not representative of Starbucks goers or suburbanites. Isn't there a word for those few wannabe hipster-ish, young, wealthy independents? Oh yeah, YUPPIES!

NYTimes Select FREE for students (anyone w/ ".edu" email)

Tue Mar 13, 2007 at 11:48:50 AM PDT

Here's the link you're here for:
FREE New York Times select for .edu email addresses!

Here's a tinyurl of the same link:
http://tinyurl.com/...

Just sign up at the above link and you'll get access to New York Times Select service (the bad idea of making people pay for access to Op-Ed pieces along with some other content that's hardly worth it).

Basically any student or staff with a university ".edu" address can sign up.  I'm a graduate student and it worked fine.

Where should we watch for election results?

Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 03:59:38 PM PDT

Where will you go to find the results of tomorrow's election?

I'll be out at a polling place all day monitoring, but when I come home, other than DailyKos, where should I go to find the election results and exit poll data and other useful information as the polls begin to close?
